27 Things I Have Learned in 27 Years

After you turn 21, I feel like birthdays aren’t really worth celebrating anymore. I genuinely feel so old and barely have my life together. However, I can only imagine how old my parents feeling with their second child on her way to 30.

Take me back ten years, and I thought my life would be a lot different. I thought I would be married, have a house and three children by 27, but things have obviously turned out a little differently, and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing! I have an incredible boyfriend; we have a house together, I have a good job and even own the cutest dog in the world!

Life doesn’t usually turn out how you expect, so here are 27 things I learnt whilst turning 27!

1 – If people want to be in your life they will make an effort

I have don’t really have any friends, but the people who are in my life I do cherish.

2 – Just because everyone else is getting engaged, married or having kids, you don’t have to

You can take life at your own pace and not feel pressured by what is happening around you.

3 – Self-care is an essential part of life:

Whether you are taking an hour to yourself, spending an hour in the bath or just having a nap, adding some self-care to your routine can make a world of difference.

4 – It is okay to feel like shit

We all days when we feel down, and sometimes you need to stop and take a breath.

5 – Dogs really do bring true happiness into your life

Luna has brought so much joy into my life!

6 – Blink 182 is still the best band ever

There isn’t a day that goes by without listening to them.

7 – Life is precious

As you get older, you learn that things can change in an instance.

8 – Lie-ins are overrated

Not 100% sure on this one, but waking up early lets me enjoy the whole day!

9 – Hangovers just aren’t worth the late-night drinking sessions

My hangovers are almost unbearable nowadays.

10 – Not everyone’s going to like you, and that is okay

I know that I am a Marmite kind of girl, but I am past caring if people like me or not.

11 – Cleaning is incredibly therapeutic

Since discovering Mrs Hinch cleaning has taken over my life. However, I find it a great chore to release some stress.

12 – Cutting your hair short is a bad idea

Last month I had about 12 inches cut off my hair; if you are thinking about doing the same, don’t.

13 – Facebook is massively overrated, as is all social media

I have really gone off all social media at the moment, as trying to post every day on my blog Instagram, but to be honest, I can’t be bothered.

14 – Admit when you are wrong

As I am getting older, it is definitely okay to admit when you are in the wrong.

15 – Never go to sleep on an argument

This is something I need to stick to more, and my boyfriend would 100% agree!

16 – Losing weight is one of the hardest things in the world

Trying to lose weight is incredibly difficult and takes a lot of motivation.

17 – Your boyfriend will end up being your best friend

As a girl with no real friendship group, I can literally tell James anything!

18 – Even though you may not have gotten along so well with your parents when you were younger, they will eventually become your best friends

Take me back 17 years, I was an absolutely savage teenager and never really got on with my parents. However, now we get on so well, and our relationship is so much better!

19 – Your parents being divorced sucks

Even though I am an adult, their divorce still affects me, especially when trying to arrange birthday meals and Christmas.

20 – Sunrises are much better than sunsets

There is nothing better in this world than a sunrise.

21 – Saving money is essential

Obviously, you should go out and have fun, but I wished I actually started saving money back when I had my first job.

22 – Autumn and winter are the superior seasons

The end of the year is definitely the best!

23 – Being tired is now part of everyday life

Tiredness is now an emotion.

24 – Toxic/annoying people just aren’t worth the hassle

Legit so done with bitchy drama.

25 – Having a blog is a great place to get anything off of your chest

My blog has been a great place to get things off of my chest and hopefully help those with similar problems/experiences.

26 – Don’t take being healthy for granted

So much can happen, and there are so many people out there struggling with their health.

27 – Don’t ignore your parent’s calls/messages

Life does get busy sometimes, but you should always make time for your family.

So there you have it! I’m not sure how helpful this is, but these are some things I have definitely learned in my 27 years on this planet.
